Wrong numbers

May 15th, 2009 by admin

The number of blank calls has greatly reduced in the last few months, but the wrong number calls continue.  It has been a few years since the Tata Indicom numbers have changed, but people still have not updated their phone books.

Another missed call

February 5th, 2009 by admin

Another missed call , the number is  919022568307, and when you call back,  it is always a Mankhurd number.  Earlier it was a Mumbra number , now  it is from Chembur area. The number that appears on the mobile phone is different from the number used for calling.   Must be diverting mobile phone calls.

Blank calls resume

December 30th, 2008 by admin

I have started getting the blank calls again, the number flashes on the mobile for a few seconds and gets disconnected. If I call back, it is a Vashi number.  Time to register a police complaint.

Another crank call

October 18th, 2008 by admin

Another creepy call, the caller says “HP Creations” . It is obviously an intentional call just to track my whereabouts.  I think I know where the crank caller works.   The other day there was a phone call late at night.  Time to take action.

Blank calls from Reliance number

July 14th, 2008 by admin

After a period of one month, the blank calls have resumed.

The calls seem to be from the number 912230739450, but they are using VoIP or Skype. There were 2 missed calls today from the same number and after I received the second call, the details of the first call got erased automatically from my mobile phone.

I’ll be keeping a record of all blank calls on this blog, will be useful while registering a complaint with the cybercrime cell .

Confidence tricks

May 27th, 2008 by admin

A shenanigan (usually the plural form shenanigans is used) is a swindle or mischief causing discomfort or annoyance. A swindle is also known as confidence trick or scam, is an attempt to cheat a person by trying to gain his or her confidence.

Swindlers exploit human weaknesses like greed, dishonesty and vanity , so a person who is satisfied with what he or she has, is less likely to lose money to confidence tricks. However, if you are very honest, naive and trust people easily, these qualities can also be exploited by the con artist.

It is commonly believed that naive, uneducated, or elderly are more likely to be targets of conman and con women. However studies have shown that greedy people who want to earn some quick money and think they can cheat the con man are more likely to lose money. Many people are impressed by smooth talkers and do not bother to verify the authenticity of the claims before taking further action.

The swindler usually has one or more accomplices called shills, who assist the swindler in manipulating the victim , so that he or she parts with his money. The shills will persuade the victim that the scheme being promoted is genuine.
